Whitstable Airport Transfers · Express Travel Kent

Airport taxi and transfers from Whitstable, Tankerton and Seasalter

A pre-booked airport taxi from any address in Whitstable, Tankerton, Seasalter, Swalecliffe, Chestfield, Yorkletts, Borstal Hill or Dargate to Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Luton or London City, with other airports on request. Whitstable Airport Transfers is a service of Express Travel Kent, a licensed private hire service operating across Kent.

Your fare is fixed for the car and appears the moment you enter your CT5 address in the booking system. The drive leaves town on the A299 Thanet Way and meets the M2 at Brenley Corner; the times on this page are the typical ranges Express Travel Kent publishes for Whitstable, and traffic can move them.

The same cars also handle long-distance journeys, business transfers, school transfers and luxury travel booked by the hour or the day.

Airport Transfer Service

Typical drive times from Whitstable to each airport

Five airports, each with the typical time Express Travel Kent publishes for a Whitstable pickup. They are ranges rather than promises: traffic on the M2 and M25 moves them, while your fixed fare stays where it was when you booked.

  • A fixed fare for the car, shown before you book

  • Flight tracking and meet and greet on every airport collection

  • Same fare for early mornings, late nights, weekends and bank holidays

  • Up to 6 passengers in an MPV; child seats on request

Journey Times

The road out of Whitstable, airport by airport

Every trip starts on the A299 Thanet Way. It was rebuilt as a dual carriageway between 1989 and 1997, with a bypass for Whitstable that left the old road as the A2990, and on the Chestfield stretch it runs through a twin-bore concrete tunnel under the golf course before joining the M2 at Brenley Corner, junction 7. After that the route depends on where you are flying from.

Door to terminal, by car
Typical timeUsual route after Brenley Corner
Gatwick, North or South Terminal1h 10m – 1h 30mM2, then the M25 and the M23
Heathrow, Terminals 2 to 51h 30m – 2hM2, then the M25 heading west
London City1h 20m – 1h 45mM2 and A2, then the Blackwall or Silvertown tunnel
Stansted1h 45m – 2h 15mM2, the Dartford Crossing and the M11, then the A120
Luton2h – 2h 30mM2, the Dartford Crossing and the M25, then the M1 to junction 10

Typical ranges as Express Travel Kent publishes them for Whitstable. Friday afternoons and the first days of the school holidays can add 30 to 45 minutes on the M25, and overnight roadworks on the M2 and M25 are common, so allow for both when you choose a pickup time.

Pickup Points

Pickups around Harbour Street, the Old Town and the harbour

The car collects from the address you book, Old Town lanes included. Harbour Street and Sea Street are both one-way, so a line of access detail in your booking helps the driver reach you with room for the cases.

01

Harbour Street

Part of the B2205 and one-way, so the car can come in from one end only. If your entrance is easier to reach from a corner or a side street, name it when you book.

02

Sea Street

Also one-way. Give the house number and any access detail you would give a visitor arriving with luggage.

03

Whitstable Harbour

A working drying harbour used for commercial traffic and fishing. The railway company opened it in 1832, Whitstable Urban District Council bought it in 1958, and today it belongs to the city council and is run by a Harbour Board. If you are staying beside it, book with the street address rather than just "the harbour".

04

Gorrell Tank, Keam's Yard and the harbour car park

The council's pay car parks around the Old Town and the harbour. Useful landmarks when you describe in your booking where your lane meets a road the car can use.

05

Tower Hill, by Whitstable Castle & Gardens (CT5 2BW)

On the cliff between the town and Tankerton Slopes, about five minutes' walk from the harbour. An easy landmark to give if your address is close by.

Areas We Cover

Seasalter to Swalecliffe, and out to Dargate

Airport and long-distance pickups across CT5 and in Dargate. Enter the full address and postcode: the fixed fare for that exact pickup appears before you confirm.

Whitstable town centre and Old Town

Harbour Street, the High Street and the streets around the harbour. See the access notes above.

Tankerton

Marine Parade and the streets behind it. Below the parade, rows of beach huts sit on Tankerton Slopes, a Site of Special Scientific Interest protected for its hog's fennel.

Seasalter

Along the coast west of the town, with CT5 addresses like the rest of Whitstable.

Swalecliffe

Home to Chestfield & Swalecliffe station, which opened in 1930 as Swalecliffe Halt.

Chestfield

Homes and John Wilson Business Park, on Harvey Drive and Reeves Way beside the A2990.

Yorkletts

Collected from the address you book, with a CT5 postcode like Whitstable itself.

Borstal Hill

Homes around the A290 junction at Borstal Hill.

Dargate

Covered, although Dargate addresses carry an ME13 postcode rather than CT5. Use the full address when you book.

“Not on the list? Send us your address and we will reply with a fixed fare.”

Pickup Points

Seafront hotels, both stations and the Chestfield business park

Places people often give as a pickup or drop-off address, with what helps on the day.

01

Hotel Continental, 29 Beach Walk (CT5 2BP)

Book with the hotel's name, full address and postcode, and the car comes to the hotel.

02

The Marine, 33 Marine Parade, Tankerton (CT5 2BE)

On the parade above Tankerton Slopes. Book with the hotel's address and postcode.

03

Premier Inn Whitstable, Thanet Way (CT5 3DB)

Book with the hotel's name and the postcode CT5 3DB.

04

Whitstable station

Two platforms, each with step-free access from the street, but crossing between them means a stepped footbridge. With heavy cases, leave by the exit on your own platform's side. The station car park is paid and run by Saba.

05

Chestfield & Swalecliffe station

No staffed ticket office: the up-side office is closed and there is a single ticket machine. Tell us when you book which side of the station you will wait on.

06

John Wilson Business Park, Chestfield

Units on Harvey Drive and Reeves Way (CT5 3QZ, CT5 3QT and CT5 3SS), beside the A2990 and about half a mile from Chestfield & Swalecliffe station. Give the unit number when you book.

Beyond the Airport

Beyond the airport: other journeys from CT5

Every one of these is pre-booked at a fixed fare, in the same cars that run the airport transfers.

01

Long-distance journeys

London and cities across the UK, starting on the A299 and M2 from Brenley Corner rather than with a change of trains. Extra stops are best put in the booking so they are part of the fare.

02

Business transfers

From John Wilson Business Park in Chestfield or a home office in Tankerton to meetings in London, an event or an early flight from London City, in an executive saloon if you prefer.

03

Luxury and exclusive transport

Executive saloons for up to four passengers, for a special occasion or an evening in London, or hired as directed by the hour or the day from a Whitstable address.

04

School transfers

Pupils and students from CT5 to school, college or university and to the airport at the start and end of term, or for an exchange trip, with the pickup booked around the term dates.

05

Cruise and ferry ports

Dover's cruise terminals and ferry port, or Southampton for a longer voyage. A people carrier takes up to six passengers with four or more large cases.

Local Knowledge

Flying home to Whitstable: what happens in arrivals

Book the return with your flight number. The flight is tracked from take-off, and the collection is timed to the moment it actually lands, so a delay outside your control costs nothing extra.

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board and helps with the luggage to the car. Free waiting runs for 45 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one; beyond that, waiting is charged at the standard rate, which you can ask for when you book.

  • Give the terminal, especially at Gatwick (North or South) and Heathrow (2, 3, 4 or 5)
  • Add a mobile number that works when you land
  • Ask for a child seat when you book, with the child's age
  • Tell us the drop-off address if it is not the pickup address you left from

Common Questions

What people in Whitstable ask before they book

Yes, from the address you book. Harbour Street is part of the B2205 and runs one way, and so does Sea Street, so the car comes in from one direction only. If your entrance is easier to reach from a corner or a side street, say which one when you book.

At the hotel. The Hotel Continental is at 29 Beach Walk (CT5 2BP) and The Marine at 33 Marine Parade, Tankerton (CT5 2BE). If you are in a holiday let nearby, book with its own address instead.

The drive to Gatwick typically takes 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. Most Whitstable passengers allow around two hours from home to check-in, then add a margin, because overnight roadworks on the M2 and M25 are common. An early start does not change the fixed fare.

Yes. Yorkletts and Borstal Hill are CT5 addresses like the rest of Whitstable. Dargate is covered too, although its addresses carry an ME13 postcode rather than CT5. Enter the full address and the fare for that pickup is shown before you confirm.

Yes. The station has no staffed ticket office, only a single ticket machine, so tell us which side you will wait on. The business park is on Harvey Drive and Reeves Way, beside the A2990 and about half a mile from the station; give the unit number with your booking.

Both routes cross the Thames at Dartford. Tolls on the journey can be added to the fixed fare where they apply, and the Dartford charge applies from 6am to 10pm every day, weekends and bank holidays too. Ask when you book and you will know where you stand.

In 2026 the Whitstable Rocks Oyster Festival ran from 11 to 13 September, its fifth year, and the 2025 festival was also three days in September. If an Old Town pickup falls on a festival weekend, mention it when you book and name a corner you can reach easily with luggage.
